This was an interesting personal project. This period was a time of renewal and self introspection. An uncertain time which, in retrospect, offered many surprises and challenges. I started shooting out of necessity, this craving to capture new photographs and see what would come from them. In the end these photographs had so much hidden meaning. Color is a project about getting back to the basics, to the root of the image and its subject.
"New York, New York. A city so big you have to name it twice". The words of the Musician George Russell are so true. How many times can you visit New York before getting tired of it, before losing interest. These photos are a personal series of pictures captured during my many visits. The City never ceases to amaze me, for its beauty and rich history. From the "Millenium Hotel" and "Psychic" to the most recent photograph above, these are very close to me and tell my story and interaction with the City.
Yado, a residence for professional artists in the city of Saratoga Springs, is a beautiful location with a great garden. I spent a day shooting in and around the garden with a Holga ( a plastic Camera), during a visit with my son Miles. During that trip I stayed awith my friiend Don, on his farm. These photographs were captured then and once back at the studio, looking at the strips of film i realized that the film looked great in stripa, sometimes when images overlapped others just next to each others.
